The Problem

The MCAT tutoring space is highly competitive, with countless providers fighting for the attention of premed students. Premed Experts stands out by offering truly personalized, 1:1 tutoring—but their unique value wasn’t translating into predictable growth.

While organic search was generating some traffic and leads, it lacked consistency and was difficult to scale. Compounding the issue, their website wasn’t optimized for conversions, leading to missed opportunities with the traffic they did receive.

Premed Experts partnered with Velocity to build a more reliable and scalable growth engine. Our goal: turn paid search into a high-performing acquisition channel through strategic campaign design and conversion-focused landing pages.

HOW WE DID IT

Our Strategy

Landing Page Split Testing

Before launching a single ad, we developed multiple variants of a landing page design to test messaging, page design/layout and form structure. We stringently tested one variant after another until we could isolate which combination yielded the best ROI from paid search.

Conversion Copywriting

Once we had a set of messaging angles, we prioritized our highest conviction assumptions around which ad copy would convert cold traffic into paying customers. From here we methodically split-tested ad variants one after another before deciding on a top performer.

Customer Persona Research

MCAT students are preparing for one of the biggest tests of their lives. They want reassurance that they are in good hands. With this in mind, we worked closely with Premed Experts to uncover the biggest challenges and worries students face, and align our messaging to put them at ease.

CRM + Lead Quality Optimization

Enquiries are great, but sales are what matter. We built a CRM to allow Premed Experts to quickly respond to enquiries and track the customer journey from ad click to paying client. We then fed those learnings back into ad campaigns. By focusing on lead quality, we are able to assign ad budget to the best performing keywords in our account.

Results

Within a quarter of launching the campaigns, paid search emerged as a dependable and scalable channel for client acquisition. Premed Experts saw a consistent increase in qualified leads, with traffic converting at a significantly higher rate than their previous organic efforts.

Our landing page experiments directly translated into stronger conversion metrics, with top-performing variants significantly outperforming the control. This alone contributed to a meaningful drop in cost per lead, enabling the client to reinvest confidently into their ad budget.

CRM integration proved pivotal—not just for tracking, but for improving lead response time and identifying which campaigns were producing the highest quality prospects. This insight allowed us to fine-tune targeting and budget allocation to focus on what was actually driving paying customers.

Thanks to Velocity’s ongoing campaign optimization and lead flow management, paid search now accounts for a large share of Premed Experts’ monthly revenue—transforming what was once an unpredictable channel into a high-confidence growth engine.
